The American Veteran Show host Steffan Tubbs interviews U.S. Army veteran Jace Badia, who just weeks earlier had a remarkable surgery at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver. Eight days after the February, 2017 surgery - Jace was walking pain-free.
DR. DAVID SCHNUR & VETERAN JACE BADIA
Now 32-year old U.S. Army veteran Jace Badia lost most of his left leg in an IED explosion in Iraq. That was 2006. More than a decade later - In February 2017 - a team including plastic surgeon Dr. David Schnurwith Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver performed a first-of-its-kind surgery and implanted a metal rod into Badia's leg, which his prosthesis then fits into. The porous metal material actually allows tissue, blood vessels and eventually skin to form in and around it, making it (almost) part of his leg.
